Fernandez breaks ground for US$115M dam at La Vega

President Leonel Fernandez on Thursday headed the groundbreaking for the construction of the Guaigui dam in the community of the same mane in central La Vega province Guaigüí dam, which will supply potable water, irrigation, prevent the Camú River’s flooding and generate clean energy.

The dam and related structures will cost US$115 million, of which 78 million will come from financing by bank of London, and the remaining 37 million are Dominican government matching funds.
