Dominican Army hosts continental conference

The Army of the Dominican Republic is hosting the Specialized Conference on Assistance in Disaster Operations of the 29th cycle of Conferences of American Armies (CEA), with the participation of 20 member States and five observant countries.

Peru, Dominican Republic, Antigua & Barbuda, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, El Salvador, the United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Paraguay, Trinidad & Tobago, Uruguay and Venezuela are the member nations taking part in the conference from yesterday and until tomorrow in the Jaragua Hotel, where Barbados, Belize, Guyana, Jamaica and Suriname are the observant countries.

The CEA was created in 1960 by Army commanders of the three Americas, to interchange ideas and discuss diverse issues of joint interest among the continent’s ground forces.

It also seeks collaboration and integration of the armies, contributing with classroom and field exercises on peacekeeping and disaster response operations, aimed at consolidating military security and democratic development.
